Ayurvedic healing.

I started my research with different rituals from different cultures. That is how i found Ayurvedic self care rituals. I had a
lot of stress lately and also pains in my stomach/nek. I found out Ayurveda is really focussed on the body and health. So also about how your body reacts on stress situations or other moments out of balance.

Ayurveda is a more than 5000 year old healing method from India. Ayur means 'life' and Veda means 'knowledge'.
Ayurveda gives 'rules' for your daily life to make sure you will be in balance. 'Rules' as in what is best to eat, what is best to focus on, what are your strong qualities when you are in balance and what are the weak ones. How to be aware of this and to focus on the positive ones.

Every human is unique and also every body is different. In Ayurveda they work with the knowledge of three energies (the Dosha's).
Vata (water and space), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (water and earth). People consist of a collection of energies,
by balancing these energies we optimize our health and our energy can flow again. You can test which Dosha you have or read the explanation of the three Dosha's and see what fits best.

- What happens to our bodies if these energies aren't in balance, how can i make people more aware of this?
- Which reactions do we feel in our body, how can we react on it?
- What is the relation to stress, how can we solve stress with one of the ayurvedic rituals?
- How can we go out of our minds and more into our bodies?
- What is the best moment to do this?
- How can you make this also a learning/awareness moment?

Vata (Air and ether/space):

- arranges our mobility, nervous system and excretion.
- a healty Vata energy helps us to let go, to deal with changes and think creatively.

Characteristics Vata:
- Cold
- Light
- Dry
- Irregular
- Rough
- Mobile
- Fast
- Changeable

The body of the Vata energy is small, lightweight and manoeuvrable. Also a dry skin, dry hair and cold feet an hands are part of
the Vata energy. Out of balance, the Vata can loses weight, suffers from constipation, tensions, arthritis, weak limbs, restlessness, nervousness and digestion. But when the Vata is in balance it is enthusiastic, adventurous, lively, energetic, creative, flexible, likes to take the lead, actively and have lively conversations.

Pitta (Water and fire):

- Arranges digestion, metabolism and energy production.
- A healty Pitta helps you to think clear, to focus and to take decisions.

Characteristics Pitta:
- Warm
- Light
- Intens
- penetrating
- sharp
- sour

The body of the Pitta easily builds muscles. It takes care of a healty appetite and a warm windchill. Out of balance the Pitta can get skin rash, heartburn, hot flashes, impatient, hot flash, rigid, principle. But in balance the Pitta is cheerful, focused, energetic, excels as a speaker, good decision maker, performs well under pressure.

Kapha (Earth and water):

- Arranges the body structure.
- It keeps the cells together and builds muscles, tendons, fat and bone tissue.
- a healthy Kapha protects us for ourselves and the outside world.

Characteristics Kapha:
- Heavy
- Slow
- Constant
- Firm
- Cold
- Soft

The body of Kapha is strong with a good endurance. It has big eyes, a smooth skin and thick hair. It is a sound sleeper with regular digestion. Out of balance the Kapha can get obesity, asthma, diabetes, depression, insomnia, greedy, selfish, stubborn and difficult to cope with change. But in balance the Kapha is calm, loving, strong, loyal and patient.

Massage rituals.

I found out that massaging yourself can be healing. You are more focused on your body instead of your thoughts. You will learn more about your body, the things you feel and where you have pain. It is good to de-stress, to take care of yourself and to be in balance. It can be a (resting) moment for yourself before you start the day. A meditation moment focussend on the body instead of the mind.

- Snehana is sanskrit for 'oil'
- Sneha means oil but also love
- Specific oils to massage your body, Abhyanga -> love therapy

- Greasing and heating your body makes you physically and mentally more flexible. You will accept yourself and others faster.
-> less stress, more balance, from your head to your toes.

Ideas:
- Every Dosha has its own oil for a massage.(I found out that Vata = Sesame, Pita = Coconut, Kapha = Safflower, general = jojoba)
- with the oil you will get a book or cards that give explanation about your Dosha, how to massage yourself and the elements connected to your dosha. A meditation guide, learning moment, awareness during massage..
- Also a tool with the oil and the cards inspired on the Dosha to use with the oil (think of spoon, stones, etc).
- A set for a morning massage ayurvedic ritual (before sunrise?). To get rid of stress, get out of your head, start the day energetic, feel where your pains are, resting moment, selfcare.
